About

This converts a Rive runtime .riv export (Format 7) into an editor .rev file. Conversion runs on the server and does not need a Rive account.

Sign in is required. Free accounts can convert once every 30 minutes. Become a member raises the single-file limit to 30 conversions every 30 seconds and unlocks batch conversion.

How to use

1. Drop a .riv file into the box, or click to choose one. Only Format 7 is accepted, and each file must be 20MB or smaller.

2. Click Convert. The task appears in the list below. Download the .rev when it finishes.

3. Files with several artboards use the recorded main artboard. Unknown types, unrecovered script bytecode, and incomplete files fail instead of producing a partial file.

How it works

.riv and .rev serve different stages. A .riv is a Format 7 binary object stream for the runtime: artboards, component hierarchy, animation keyframes, state machines, images, fonts, and related assets are written in order by type and property. A .rev is an editor project package whose core is readable RML (an XML-like scene description) plus accompanying assets.

During conversion, the server decodes the object stream with the Format 7 schema to recover each object’s type, properties, and references. It then maps those runtime objects back into an editor node tree and property tables, restoring hierarchy, constraints, animations, and state machines, and extracting embedded assets.

Finally it packs the reconstructed RML project into a .rev so you can open and edit it again in the Rive editor. The whole pipeline runs on the server and does not need a Rive account or a local editor.
